Walk The Art 2025: Beneath The Surface

June 2nd – August 15th
Creative Campus Gallery
Hazel McCallion Campus

What lies just beneath the surface? To have a surface implies that something is beneath, or under, or innermost. Questioning what exists beneath the surface is looking further than the obvious, or viewing the world from the perspective of being outside looking in.

Artists often explore this world beyond when in search of the other — a search that manifests out of the self, out of experiences, out of love, out of oppression, or out of a desire to promote social justice that, inevitably, promotes a process of creating that may bring to the forefront revelations either new or embedded within us.

Beneath the Surface is an exhibition showcasing a collection of perspectives and a documentation of one’s journey into the deep other side.

Since 2000, the Peel District School Board’s Walk the Art program has empowered secondary school students to explore social justice issues through the visual and media arts. The Creative Campus Galleries has been proud to host this annual exhibition at Sheridan since 2018, including this year’s Beneath the Surface, which features work from students across 14 participating schools.
