The Forms We Take reflects physical attributes, ideologies, and cultural paradigms we embody that are reflective of our personal and collective histories. Like taking away matter to find the ideal form within, our lived experiences bring us closer to a better understanding of who we are in relation to society. Our past, present, and future events shape who we are and we in turn shape them.

One wonders: what are the systems, superstitions, and ideas that have become so ingrained in our everyday lives that we do not stop to think how they inform our understanding of self? Emerging contemporary artists question, probe, and confront the ways in which cultural narratives have been distorted, political histories have created divisions, and how personal experiences shape The Forms We Take
